Role:Tech Assist
  1. I live in Apex, NC but I am originally from Long Island, New York.
  2. I work for a call center from home but I also manage and run a web design business from home. (ProNERD.com)
  3. I have two fur babies...(Seymour and Lydia) who I spoil too much! Oh, yes! I shouldn't forget about my fiance, Michael. Love of my life.
  4. I love how the MLIS offers different opportunities. Eventually I would like to teach full time and work on instructional technology methods and curriculum. My dream job would be to teach college level courses from a distance. I love distance technologies and learning.
  5. When I was little I wanted to be an ice skater. I have only been ice skating once and I held onto the side the whole time. I'm better off around books.

  1. I live in Sutton, Ontario, about an hour north of Toronto. Have 6 acres. Born and raised in this area. Been married almost 18 years to my high school "sweetheart" - we've been together since we were 15... now are both 43... two kids, one turning 11 in April and the other is 6. I'm a busy mom - hockey, soccer, riding. I also volunteer at my kids school and with soccer association. We own a shop, speciallizing in boats, agricultural equipment (you should see the antique tractors my husband has refinished) and industrial. I do all the business end for the shop. I don't sit down very often. Just do it is my motto - long before Nike started using it!
  2. I work at King Township Public Library, in King City Ontario. Full time, senior manager. I am officially Manager of Administrative Services - a catchall for my many hats. I LOVE the library world and so happy I found it. The MLIS - well, it is my ticket to bigger things, if I decide to do so. But, I really enjoy my classes and the people I meet - librarians are a special breed.
  3. Quirky - how about my need for speed... bet ya haven't ridden a snowmobile over 200km/h - I was radared doing that on my husband's performance "sled" on an airport runway. I am a tad wild in terms of trying most things once - white water rafting, deep sea fising, extreme ATVing, doing 400km trips by snowmobile (in one day) . I love hockey - and now that my son is getting older - I go to every game - saves watching the Toronto Maple Leafs losing most of their games. I wanted to play, but because I am a girl, my dad wouldn't let me. So, I figure skated for 10 years. I still skate with the kids, and have both hockey and figure skates. I can still do an axle... and Dad let me play soccer (Italian, remember?) - played rep for a few years.

Role: Leader/Facilitator
  1. I live in Payneville, KY which is about an hour southwest of Louisville. Our county includes about 28,000 people, so it's definitely rural.
  2. I'm the head of children's services and director of programming at our county's public library. I conduct toddler and preschool storytimes, manage the children's collection, and do all the marketing, scheduling, and ordering for our programs. We're getting ready to move into a new building in a few months so I'm pretty busy at the moment!
  3. My husband works swing shifts and farms, so unfortunately he's not around as much as I'd like. We have a 14 month old son, Patrick, who I think is pretty awesome :) He enjoys trying to play with my computer, putting his toys in the washing machine, and chasing our robotic vacuum cleaner. We also have assorted critters like chickens, cows/bulls/calves, dogs, and a cat.
  4. I want to get my degree because I love learning and I want to be better at what I do. I also want to be the first non-director employee our library's had with an MLS. I like having the additional options and opportunities the degree makes available and wouldn't be opposed to working in administration either at my library or another organization.
  5. The most exciting thing that's happened to me in my career as a librarian just went down the other day- my application for the ALSC's Bookapalooza grant was accepted! This means big things for the future of our library and will help boost the old resume. Hmmm...what else...I love dark beer, NPR, and have a background in animal science/ag economics. It seems like a far cry from libraries but there's a surprising amount of similarities. If there's anything else you want to know, just ask!
At last week's farm machinery show (left) and Patrick probably doing something he's not supposed to (right):
